Why refinish?
If the cabinet boxes are structurally sound, refinishing is faster, less invasive, and dramatically cheaper than ripping them out. Done right, with proper degrease, sand, prime, and sprayed topcoat, you get a factory-grade finish that holds up to daily kitchen use.
Smooth or grain-filled finish
Oak grain showing through paint is the #1 thing homeowners regret about a DIY cabinet job. We grain-fill, block-sand, and respray so the finish reads modern and clean.
Hardware and color guidance
Updating the pulls, knobs, or hinges as part of the refresh? Our color consultants will help you coordinate a palette and hardware finish that ties the whole kitchen together.

Common questions
- Absolutely! If we're painting the inside of your cabinets and drawers, please ensure all items are removed beforehand. This step is crucial for allowing us full access to every corner and ensuring a thorough and even application of paint. However, if we're only painting the cabinet faces, we ask that you push items toward the back of the cabinet to create a clear working space for us. There's no need for you to remove any hardware; our skilled crews are equipped to handle both the removal and reinstallation of hardware, ensuring a seamless and efficient process from start to finish.
- Most of our teams are available to work on Saturdays, though we typically reserve Sundays for rest, unless working is absolutely necessary to meet the project timeline or specific client needs. At Al's Quality Painting, we're committed to accommodating your schedule to the best of our ability, ensuring the painting process is convenient for you. However, we also appreciate your flexibility with us. This mutual cooperation helps us deliver the high-quality results you expect, within a timeframe that suits both parties.
- The choice of paint finish for your cabinets largely depends on your preference for sheen level and the expected amount of traffic or use the painted areas will receive. Typically, we recommend opting for a semi-gloss finish for cabinets. This finish not only provides a moderate level of reflectance, enhancing the aesthetics of your cabinetry, but also offers practical benefits. Semi-gloss paint is more durable and easier to clean than matte finishes, making it ideal for surfaces that are frequently touched or used. This ensures your cabinets not only look great but can also withstand daily wear and tear, maintaining their beauty and functionality over time.
